Four-handed tales

Presentation

Les Contes à quatre mains (Four-handed tales) are musical tales performed by Thomas Nguyen and Léo Perlot-Lhuillier. One plays the piano, the other narrates.

These tales come in different cycles and forms depending on the venue and the age of the audience. You can attend them in schools, media libraries, theaters, and even in certain heritage sites.

The show is interactive for children. A break at “halftime” allows the youngest audience members to take a break and chat with the performers. During this time together, they discover the secrets of creation of a musical tale.

The Metamorphosis Cycle

An adaptation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses. Several selected passages are narrated in simple language, making the story easy to follow while preserving the characters’ personalities and the tone of the excerpts. Contes à quatre mains recounts several great myths to the audience, attempting to convey the richness and beauty of Ovid’s world, which is at once realistic, magical, and relevant to today’s world.

La Fontaine Cycle

To mark the fourth centenary of La Fontaine’s birth, this cycle offers a musical reading of selected Fables, some well-known, others less so, but all equally modern!

Ionesco cycle

This is an adaptation of Thomas Nguyen’s musical tale. Contes 1, 2, 3, 4 (Tales 1, 2, 3, 4) is inspired by the eponymous collection written by Eugène Ionesco for his daughter Marie-France. These four little-known tales are aimed at both children and adults, allowing readers to discover or rediscover Ionesco’s great and visionary work.

Fantastic cycle

This strange cycle is meant for teenagers and adults. It is a musical reading of Théophile Gautier’s La Cafetière.

Christmas cycle

This cycle is only available in December. The first part is devoted to a musical reading of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Match Girl, and the second to Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. This cycle, which also includes many surprises, immerses us in the wonderful world of Christmas, its myths and legends…
